Taiwan-based smartphone maker HTC unveiled a new flagship phone today
with a touch-screen display and applications for viewing content from
websites such as YouTube and Google Maps.
High Tech Computer (HTC) said its Touch Diamond phone would offer
high-speed mobile Internet access using HSDPA and HSUPA, upgrades to
existing third-generation networks that boost data transmission speeds.

A few new mobile handsets are close to launch what with the HTC Touch
Diamond and HTC Raphael ready to compliment Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1
all high end smartphones, and then there’s the 3G Apple iPhone being
readied for launch later in the year. Well now it appears Palm are
adding to the mix with their latest handset the Palm Treo 800w.

T-Mobile said today it launched its first commercial high-speed
wireless service in New York City, and plans to expand the service to
20 to 25 other major U.S. markets by the end of the year.
The new service, based on a high-speed technology known as HSDPA, will
boost T-Mobile Web speeds by about four times initially, with another
doubling of data speeds once the company comes out with a new HSDPA
phone in the third quarter.
